He specializes in criminal cases, press law and personal rights. He conducts litigation for leading politicians and journalists. He advises the presidents and supervisory boards of the largest Polish companies. Ministry of Justice expert in criminal law reforms. Judge of the State Tribunal. Co-author of numerous amendments to the law, including the amendments to the Criminal Code and the Code of Criminal Procedure.
He gained his professional experience, among others, in several well-known Warsaw law firms, as well as in the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Rome, the Ministry of Justice and the Polish Parliament. Author of numerous legal opinions related to the legislative process, including those commissioned by the Chancellery of the Prime Minister.
Professional mediator of the Mediation Centre at the Supreme Bar Council registered on the list of mediators of the District Court in Warsaw and a lecturer for the advocate training at the Bar Association in Warsaw. Since December 2020, regular mediator of the Arbitration Court at The General Counsel to the Republic of Poland.
Ministry of Justice expert in criminal law reforms. Co-author of amendments to the Criminal Code, the Executive Criminal Code, the Code of Criminal Procedure, including the so-called extended forfeiture, extended criminal liability of expert witnesses, the so-called crime of nonsupport and liability of collective entities for prohibited acts.
In February 2018 elected by the Sejm (Parliament) of the Republic of Poland as a judge of the State Tribunal – a body intended to judge the most important politicians in Poland, including the President and the Prime Minister. In November 2019, he was re-elected as a judge of the State Tribunal by the Sejm. In November 2023 re-elected for the third time.
Three times, in 2020, 2022 and 2023 Maciej Zaborowski, Managing Partner of KKZ, as one of few advocates, was awarded in the prestigious Ranking of “50 Most Influential Lawyers in Poland”, prepared by journalists of “Dziennik. Gazeta Prawna.” newspaper.
Winner of the prestigious “Rising Stars Lawyers – Leaders of Tomorrow” competition. Recommended as a lawyer in prestigious international and Polish rankings, i.a. in the ranking of the daily Rzeczpospolita as an expert in the fields of Criminal law for business and Technology, media, telecommunications.
In 2023, he was indicated as a leader in the Business Crime Defence: Individuals category, on the list of one of the most prestigious international industry rankings, i.e. “Who is Who Legal”. This proves the fact that his activities go far beyond the Polish legal market and are visible in other European countries.
He was also additionally awarded for his pro publico bono activity by the District Bar Council in Warsaw.
In 2019, he was awarded the Medal of the Centenary of Regained Independence by President of the Republic of Poland for his social and professional activities, in particular for pro bono activities and education of young people.
He graduated from the Faculty of Law and Administration of the University of Warsaw. He also graduated from Harvard Law School (ALP) and postgraduate studies in Intellectual Property Law at the Faculty of Law and Administration of the University of Warsaw as well as postgraduate studies in Evidence Law at the Faculty of Law and Administration of Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński University. He also completed advocate training at the Bar Association in Warsaw and passed the final Bar exam. He is also a graduate of the Center for American Law Studies (a joint initiative of the Florida State University and the Faculty of Law and Administration of the University of Warsaw), Leadership Academy for Poland run by lecturers from Harvard Kennedy School of Government, 16th School for Leaders founded by Professor Zbigniew Pełczyński from Oxford University in Great Britain, and the Academy of Young Diplomats (European Academy of Diplomacy) – specialization: foreign service.
